       Valerie West is a fourth-year BFA student at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. Originally rooted in video and sound art, her practice expanded beyond the digital when she joined a combat robotics team. Beginning to design 3D objects within manufacturing and material limitations.

       Now working as a sculptor and fiber artist, Valerie merges traditional craft with technological process. Juxtaposing industrial fabrication methods with handmade making to produce objects that embody the process of becoming. Caught between the digital and the physical, her work carries evidence of both origins: the elegance of a CAD file, the logic of a G-Code Path, and the unmistakable trace of material still in the act of becoming.
